Ester-The April Bunny by Ryanide Ester-The April Bunny by Ryanide
Yes, yes, yes, I know, I know...Easter was last week...well I tried to get this completed by then, but then things happened and stuff, so it's late.

Anyway, I've decided that in order to make Loaded Eclipse a little more interesting, there will be special characters who only appear during certain holidays (like in Animal Crossing). Because in Loaded Eclipse, there is no "Easter" as we know it, they celebrate "Day of Life" instead. This still gives me the excuse to use pretty coloured eggs, because the eggs symbolise new life and that.

So as soon as April begins, the region's "April Bunny" begins touring from town to town. The day that he arrives in your town becomes the Day of Life, and he uses his magical paintbrush to decorate houses and things. He also hides eggs and if you find them, you can take them back to him and get chocolate and other goodies.

Ester is an very beautiful rabbit buck with abnormally long ears. He is Happy Valley's April bunny, but he lacks experience as far as April bunnies go. He often has a hard time keeping up with his schedule. Smiley is the last town that Ester visits before April is over, so he usually rests there for a few days before moving on to wherever April bunnies go when it's not April.

He gets along very well with Oatis, Fydel, Mia and Justin, but Tarquin dislikes his graceful manner and Jade is irrationally mean to him. (For obvious reasons, he avoids Ala and Pepper like a PLAGUE.)

*DESIGN NOTES

Yes...about the costume...well you see I was trying to go for a sort of Angel/Hermes look, something mythical and young looking, and at Easter, you get all ribbons everywhere, so I tried to work a lot of ribbons into the costume. I origionally drew him naked and undetailed, but then I realised it was Loaded Eclipse style and that had to change. Now he looks less like an Easter bunny and more like an exotic dancer -_-' But I can't think of any other way it would work, so I kind of gave up. Either way, this kind of works out, because can think of some funny skits that revolve around the costume. *Jade referes to Ester as "April Skaink!" enough said.*

Easter egg patterns in his fur! YAY! My extended family celebrates Easter with egg painting and a big egg hunt for the kids (there were over 40 guests this easter, and it rained! MUD EVERYWHERE!) on the acherage. It used to be a farm, but now it's just a property. My weekend retreat :D Anyway, there's a playground and a pine forest that make great hiding places for eggs. (My relatives wanted to make money off the pine trees, but it turned out that it was the wrong kind of pine...now all we have is a lot of pine trees and loud cockatoos that eat the pine cones.)

Whoa, I'm ranting. but what I meant to say was, we paint eggs, and it's great fun. That kind of gave me the inspiration for this character.

Also, I think this is one of my neater lineworks. Usually my lines are so messy when I do this style. I was extra careful this time. I still can't help but feel that there's something majorly wrong with the anatomy...so if you see anything that looks weird, tell me so that I can fix it.

My Life As A Loaded Eclipse and all related characters (C) Ryanide 2005-6, do not distribute or steal, thanks.

Very colorful! But not like a bad colorful considering it is various cloth and what seems to be make-up, more understandable than what you see in other colorful anthro pics.

Noooooooo, I don't see where you got that from...

Notice the way he stands tall and proud. If anything, I tried to make him look confident and serene, like a master of his own path. Ester is an indepandant entity and the guardian of the April spirit. He's not waiting for anything or anyone.

I'm not 100% happy with this picture, the anatomy is all wrong. I believe I want to draw him again.

I have a lot of very effeminate straight male characters actually, so Ester is not unusual by my standards. XD

Not so much as Oatis, I think.

It's both incredibly cute, visially appealing, and beautifull work. I can't even bring myself to look for flaws. It's just so lovely a job. Happy life, Ester. The outfit is very incredible, looks very good. You don't often see a ribbon and strap job done with such flair.

now that I look at this picture again, I think his legs are too thick. Ah well, maybe in the holidays I'll go back and fix up old works like this one.

Thanks for the lovely comment.

i love this one, not only it's brilliantly colored and shaded, but the ribbons and the painted fur are awesome details.
I really liked the way the shading reveals the fur's texture... hard to explain XD hope you understand

I like how you drew the long ears I think you did a great job on rendering the fur also.

The ribbon idea is unique and colorful to me. I don't really see anything wrong with the anatomy, I think its good everything goes together well.

Cockatoo's eat pinecones? Interesting... There's plenty of pine trees here :) just noisy small songbirds instead of Cockatoo's.

Hah, thanks.

Cockatoos don't really eat pinecones, they just DESTROY them, and hurl their broken husks onto people's rooftops while squawking in an unbearable way. They're just...loud, distructive birds. They got mohawks for a reason, you know!:D

I dont underastand what jesus actually DID... he lived and then he DIED... Everybody so far is either doing that or has done that... He had to have been a zombie. or atleast an elf.

Well he did miracles and stuff, he died to excuse the sins of man. Being the son of God and all, that's a pretty big deal because he could have just said "don't want to" and walked out onto the lake where nobody could touch him. the big deal is that when he died, all this stuff happened and people realised that he really was the son of God and they felt all guilty (and therefore repented). It was either that or flaming balls of fire from Hell, so I'm not complaining. So it's always a good idea to be respectful of Jesus and Mohammed (even if you don't believe in them) and ignore all that stuff you see on South Park. :D

Oh well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

Anatomically speaking, the perfect male figure, IMO is not too muscular, with not too much definition in the muscles, but still well toned, wheras the perfect female figure is not too skinny, and with a very slight muscular build while maintaining the effeminite curves.

Of course, only supermodels get these bodies, but those are the PERFECT forms in my opinion.

Ah. So THIS is the Easter Bunny you specifically said I'd "have something to say about".

...A 'beautiful rabbit buck'? Dude! Don't make me drive up to Cairns and SPANK you! All I really have to say is, :puke:.
Nicely drawn, though. But hey, so is a lot of YIFF. :XD: Joking.

:iconryanide:

but all rabbits are beautiful. I mean...if we could keep them in Cairns, I'd bribe a friend to buy one so I could scuddle it and stuff. And besides, a sub-mythical entity like the April bunny is going to have to look pretty spectacular, innit?

And there's a difference between 'aesthetically pleasing and tasteful presentation of anatomy supplimented by anthropomorphism' and yiff. The difference is, I laude over one, and condemn the other to the sewers of medieval London! HAHAHA.

Yes, this is unusual for me, but my excuse is well mapped out in the design notes section. I guess I'm just not all that good when it comes to designing these sorts of costumes. Either they end up lookin totally whoriffic or they just plain fail. I should probably just stick to boots and coats. -_-

But I degress. I guessed you'd either be revolted by the overall prettiness of this picture or taunt me about something. I'm satisfied with the puke emoticon. :D

And when you say that a lot of yiff is nicely drawn, well that's the very thing that makes me slam my head into the keyboard in frustration. WHY IS SUCH TALENT BEING WASTED ON SMUT? :crying:

:iconproffate:
proffate Featured By Owner Apr 23, 2006
They don't think of it as 'smut'. You have to realise, you selobate, monk-like thing, that there are a lot of people out there who have what are called 'paraphilias', which are uncontrollable and bizarre sexual desires that can dominate their lives, and many, many more with just fetishes (I admit to being a fetishist myself), who are just turned on by very strange things. These people are often condemned before they have any chance to justify themselves (ironically by people like you, who are usually otherwise quite forgiving. One such widely misunderstood fetish happens to be a penchant for yiff. Now I myself may think that bondage and sado-masochism is beyond me, and I may even consider it a little off-colour, but to call the people who like it 'freaks' is just plain ignorant. Same goes for all victimless sexual deviances. Be quick to understand, and slow to condemn. :meditation:

But I'm getting waaay off topic here. All I'm saying is that the costume is quite suss! :o

Aw come on, I know all that! Do you really think I'm so shallow? I was trying to be funny. I don't have a problem with people who like that sort of thing at all, (just so long as they don't talk...ha ha ha...Joke!) No, I don't have a problem with people and their preferences, but that doesn't change anything, I still hate the material they produce!

...alright, If I can't think of it as smut, I'll refer to it as "visual plughole hair" more politically correct for ya? :P

And yes, the costume is suss, but I did not intend to be viewed in a sexual manner! How you look at my costume designs is completely up to the veiwer, but my intention was to display the sleek and youthful form of the character in a somewhat mythical and angelic style. IT OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T WORK!

But seriously, he looked even worse in shorts! believe it or not, this is the most innocent and naive look I could produce while still keeping the design. I fail!

LOL! Well, you were talking about the whole god-type hermes thang, I personally would have dressed him up in a Toga. And made him look at least a *bit* more male! :XD: Ah, kidding. But yeah.

I mean it's a nice drawing, just... quite NAKED... and with such human proportions... and he's obviously a 'prettyboy'... etc etc. You know. *shrugs*
