Well
asked me to draw a picture that represents how he was feeling a while ago, so here's what I came up with.
Since Magmaarcher doesn't have a persona of any kind yet, I just drew some random spirit girls. Ain't they pretty? :3
Anyway, the dark substance represents the way magmaarcher seemed to "clothe" himself in depression by continuously telling himself that he wasn't the sort of person to be happy, and that he was lost.
And yet, being happy is naturally a better and healthier state of mind than depression. Underneath all that depression, the potential for a shining ball of light is always there. And you'll never join the other balls of light if you keep yours wrapped up in black stuff.
Also, friends and family will try to help you. They want you to have a better life, and will try to urge you to shed your depression.
It's like...a sort of restraint. You feel you WANT to enjoy yourself and enjoy life, but at the same time, you're restraining yourself with depression. It's almost as if you're being fashionably depressed. Or holding a grudge.
ANYWAY, NUFF OF THAT, THIS WAS DONE IN FLASH, NO PHOTOSHOP WAS USED EXCEPT TO SAVE THE PNG FILE.

Your art teacher is a bit of a snob but that's putting it mildly... I never really did like art teachers a few have actually helped me in recent years with some things but they weren't the ones that were tied to my school days.
