NESS AND LUCAS ARE ALMOST USELESS IN COMPETITIVE PLAY THANKS TO A BAD ANIMATION IN THEIR GRAB RELEASE. IF YOU GRAB A CHARACTER IN BRAWL AND CONTINUOUSLY USE A PUMMEL ATTACK, IT FORCES YOUR OPPONENT TO BREAK OUT IN FRONT OF YOU. NESS AND LUCAS HAVE AN ABNORMALLY LONG BREAK OUT ANIMATION, MEANING THAT MANY CHARACTERS CAN SIMPLY RUN AND GRAB THEM AGAIN BEFORE THEY'RE ABLE TO MOVE, MEANING THAT ALMOST ANY CHARACTER CAN INFINITE THEM TO DEATH. GOOD ONE, SAKURAI.

Just a quick Ness/Lucas loop that I'm using for a banner over at smashboards.com.

I'm importing my Brawl, by the way, or at least when I can figure out the best and safest way to mod my Wii.

I find it interesting that both Ness AND Lucas have the ability to reflect projectiles with their Fsmash attacks, even though Lucas's Fsmash is a stick and not a baseball bat.

Sadly, the "Kachii!" sound when Ness hits a homerun with his bat has been taken out and replaced with a generic "Clack!". :( I don't know if Lucas gets it either, since his stick seems to make a sort of "Thwock!" sound when it hits.

Clackthwockclackthwockclackthwock, etc.

I may possibly do more of these for other characters.

..WHAT?!? They can't take away Ness's trademark baseball bat noise!! >c That's, like, a crime!!! Grrrf, it's such a part of his character that it's just not ethical to make the thwacking noise a generic one... hmmf
