Artist's Comments

Here's a little preview of Rave Battle in progress, just to let you know what to expect, and to prove that I AM working on the project.

It's unfinished and has no music yet, but I thought it might be interesting for people who want to see my animation technique, because the second half of the animation is a really good example of pose-by-pose animation.

Basically, the black and white section is animated on every 4th frame (goes at 25fps) and those are the "key poses". Later on, I'll fill in the middle frames in order to make said section as smooth as the coloured bits.

You can see that for slower segments, I resort to tweening, in which it's important to break a character up into many layers and symbols.

Anyway, the two characters you see here are the boxing cat Lee (who is no longer a fan pokemon) and his green squirrel partner Chance. They are sparring in this scene, and working on a routine for a big competition (even though it's pretty full on)

Lee is a serious type of person, and his composure allows him to flow with elegance on the dance floor and while fighting. His ability to move his fists at incredible speeds makes his upper body very versatile. He's very popular and has a lot of fans-the mansion they're fighting in belongs to him.

Chance is more of a rookie than Lee. He only took up martial dancing recently, and he is practically unknown, however, since his partnership with Lee, he is destined to become more popular as the two of them compete in double-leagues. Chance is a great defensive player, but his acrobatic style makes him good with offense as well. He sometimes uses his imagination to make up for his lack of experience, coming up with spectacular improvised attacks and dance moves out of nowhere.

Please don't tell me that this animation needs sound/longer/colour, because it's NOT FINISHED!! Rather than that, please give critique on my technique and process.

Rave Battle and all related characters are (C) Ryanide 2006, do not distribute or steal.

Very lovely smooth animation! I love the action and excitement. Even the "corny kick flip" looks pretty cool ;P Great job!

Nice! As usual,
um, i submitted my first flash, and i know its total crap!

So, can u give me some tips?

I want to make my own theme for "Breaking Limits"
I might have to simpify my charecters so it would be easier to animate them.

Normality is over-rated p=

I see you use extremes to help build your action. :)

How longs that taken you so far?

Woaw it moves a lot! Very smooth like always. You are in the elite flash artist category! I've seen a lot and a lot of flash movies (95% on newgrounds) and your animation skills are seriously superior. I like the speed effects.

I don't know what to say on your technique, just keep the good work.
:iconkirisali:
That's awsome! It's really interesting to watch. Must be fun for ya~!

Dubbed Anime is like a nice pizza with dog poop on it. There still might be a tastey pizza underneath, but I've lost my appetite for it.
