This is a character who is shared property between me and . I've had his design lying around for a while now, but after looking at it closely, I realized that it reminded me strongly of Lylac's characters and that he would fit better into her world than any of mine.

RuanHaao is supposed to interact with Lylac's characters and for that reason he's as much her character as he is mine. She can use him however she sees fit in her stories, and I'll take that as an excuse to draw lots of fanart of her characters. XD

OK: his story. RuanHaao is a remnant of an ancient race known as the Skaia, who were the masters of the entire universe at one stage. However, when new races began to form, the Skaia were ousted and forgotten and their delicate civilization crumbled. Only a few hundred or so remained throughout the entire cosmos and forgot about their old traditions. RuanHaao is a Skaia who is a descendant from direct royalty and who is interested in what the old civilization was like. He believes that the Skaia way of life can be revived and spends his life searching for hidden artifacts and stored data left behind so he can piece together the puzzle of his race. However, he doesn't realize that his struggles are pointless, and that such a forgotten race can never make its way back on top.

Ruan himself is very proud and confident in his abilities. He's mischievous and playful, and takes his self-appointed mission very seriously, even if others think he's crazy. For this reason he can be very annoying, and often gets the other characters into trouble. He has a hard time understanding the feelings of other beings, and is quick to challenge the aspirations and dreams of others.

The USB key that he carries around his neck allows him to collect data from the artifacts that he manages to find. When he first meets Jinka, he believes that the star-ends to Jinka's ears were made from Skaia metal and tries to steal them. Even after realizing that Jinka was created with robotics, he still continues to pretend otherwise and bothers Jinka constantly. This is because deep down, he's actually a very lonely person who doesn't know how to make friends. Upon meeting Kyr, Ruan tells him that the moon belongs to the Skaia people, and that he would never be able to reach it. This angers Kyr greatly and the two of them become friendly rivals.

Ruan's main source of offense is his mastery of the star chain magic, in which he can set up stars in the air that then fire light chains in a predefined angle. These chains travel slowly through the air like lasers, allowing Ruan to trap and pressure opponents. Ruan can freeze them and change the trajectory if he wishes. There are many uses for this versatile magic, even though it's not designed as an attacking spell. Despite his slight build, Ruan can hit very hard if he wants to, but does not have the speed of someone like Hang Foo or Kyr to back it up.

The clothes he wears is a ceremonial Skaia guard's uniform that he stole from a museum.

Lylac was the first person on DA who really gave me a true inspirational boost, and for this reason I consider her a very special key to my own artistic development. I hope I can make up for all the fanart I should have drawn ages ago by sharing a character with Lylac. Hopefully her stories can benefit from his inclusion.

(By the way, RuanHaao is supposed to mean "seeker,open air/sky" in Thai. I probably got something wrong.)
