Yoshida Sniper by Ryanide Yoshida Sniper by Ryanide
NOTE TO ALL VIEWERS: THIS WAS MADE USING MACROMEDIA FLASH. A PROGRAM THAT CAN BE USED TO MAKE FLASH ANIMATIONS AND VECTOR IMAGES. FLASH IS NOT FREE, IT COSTS ABOUT 600$ OR SOMETHING. I DREW THIS USING A MOUSE. YOU GENERALLY USE FLASH TO MAKE FLASH ANIMATIONS. HENCE THE NAME.

0----------------------------------------0

So I had this really sudden and bizzare dream one day. (It dosed off during the day) and while I was out, I saw this character doing something, but I don't know what. The "camera" was all over him, zooming in on his face, catching him from dynamic angles, it was like an awesome action sequence but without any action.

As soon as I woke up, I sketched this character in my book. And now I can't stop drawing him.

His name is Yoshida Sniper, and he's a character from Destruction Force Hyper. In many ways, he's similar to Nabeshin from Excel Saga in the fact that he actually has no real reason to be in the story at all.

Yoshida's single purpose in DFH is to kick ass. No matter what the situation, if things are getting out of hand, Yoshida will always be able to set things straight in the most violent way possible. Not only does he have mad skillz, but it seems like he can just do ANYTHING and be anywhere at the drop of a stinger shell.

Whenever Yoshida enters any scene, DFH becomes about HIM, no matter what was going on previously. The animation quality will improve by 100% and his theme tune will always play in the background.

I've already tried animating this guy, and his lanky proportions and square anatomy make him REALLY fun to animate. I'll make sure to post the draft for his first debut when it's ready, but at the moment I'm still just experimenting. I haven't started animating DFH just yet.

Because DFH is set in such a random universe (It takes place inside the internet) the characters change proportions and style depending on what website they're on. Yoshida is one of the few characters who is an exception to this rule. No matter what website he's on, Yoshida will always be in these proportions. This means that by default, he towers over most of the other characters in DFH. When Team DFH turn into their anime forms, they're about the same height as him.

I've actually designed a whole lot of characters for DFH, so I'll be posting more sketches of them soon.

Now to design his theme tune...:D

He looks so funny the first time I saw him. I think it was in one of your flash movies but I forgot. The facial expression and body anatomy are priceless!

I can just hear a large, Japanese man proclaiming, "Yoooooshiiiiidaaaaa!!! Snipeeeeeeeeeerrrrruuuuuu!" That, good sir, is my first reaction to this. :)

Large Japanese men proclaiming things loudly are always a good way to get attention.

That or somebody screaming "DOMO" at the top of their lungs.

So very true! Like sentiments aside, another fine piece have you made here! Though by now, I'm sure that is old news.

How did I miss this? This guy is EXTREME RADICAL. But can he pull guns out of his afro?

No, unfortunately, he has NO AFRO.

He does have goggles, though, which do nothing.

Whoa, I think I love him. The characters like this in shows are always my faves. You know.. the ones that... don't quite belong.

Yeah. I always find those characters to be hilarious. Especially when they seem to just be totally disconnected from the normal story flow. It makes you WANT TO KNOW more about them.

You really need to concentrate on just one thing like "Electrospastic" or maybe "Rave Battle". You said you were way be-hind so ketchup on those first before you make any other works. I really want to see both of them, and i know you have alot of school work, but just do this one thing...for your DA fans. *sobs quietly for no reason*.

DFH + Yoshida Sniper could be one of the best things ever. When your sole purpose is to kick ass and be awesome, how can that not be win?

I sense randomness coming the likes of which we have seen before in such places as Fooly Cooly...but will this be even more epic? Only the madman with the mouse can know for sure...
*switch Camera 2*
*Pan up on horizon and fade out*

If DFH were a game, I'd get sued for copyright infringement by about ten different people. XD

Even so, it would be 70%action, 20%soundtrack and 10% story. The critics would hate it. :3

But who knows...maybe sometime in the future I'll find a way to make a legit game about this. Pass it off as a Dojin or something.

Dude, critics hate EVERYTHING these days.

But yeah, some things I guess are just meant for personal pet projects or what have you; you can keep 'em casual and still have fun without worrying too much. But I must say, a game like that would be epic win.

I guess if I could pass it off as a parody and if it had good gameplay mechanics and funky graphics, then it could please to some extent. But I have a feeling that being so much based on internet jokes, it would be really annoying to go around asking companies "Hey, can we please make a level based on Google for our game? Can we make it a train station? Also, we want Youtube to be a movie theatre..." and getting a big letter back with a large "NO" scrawled on it in red ink.

I'm going to make all the ()cats in DFH look like this.

The ()Cats are all those internet cats like Ceiling cat, longcat and reaction cat. They're going to be recurring characters, especially reaction cat.

I don't think he can hear his own music. XD All he hears is the BOOM BOOM BOOM of his guns and things exploding around him wherever he goes.

A bit like that little girl from F.E.A.R.

lol, yeah I remember that freak little girl. FEAR is an awesome game! A little short, but still awesome.

But, hey, it is not so bad to draw with a mouse. If the pen tool is available in the software it draws well for the final lines. I love that tool

And for the pirates/thieves/notreallyninjas.. you can get Flash through illegal download. >_>

Unfortunatly, I can't trust to do that because of viruses.

Dreams are wonderful aren't they??

now if only there was a way to recreate dreams as they were when they were originally dreamt... cause some of it (if not all of it) fades as we awaken...

good job in retaining your dream, not many people can do that ^^

btw, awesome character

Thanks! I think his style is sort of more like a western comic influence than my usual manga-inspired styles, and I have no idea where it came from. But it's so fun to draw all exaggerated like this.
